If you’re a runner with an injury – it’s definitely worth paying Pure Health Osteopath Clinic a visit….. After months of intense training I picked up an injury 5 weeks before the first ever Bristol to Bath (and my first ever) marathon. Tight calves (a common side-effect of high mileage) were causing all sorts of problems – one of which was a stabbing shin pain. I was advised not to run on it – so I began a 5 dramatic week taper (of practically no running). 2 weeks to go and I had to drop out of marathon – I was devastated! All those months of training wasted.
I’ve known Sophie and Chris for years, but it never dawned on me to pay them a visit with regard to my muscular injury. What could an osteopath do for runners? I was completely wrong, and luckily Sophie had heard about my injury and asked me to pay the clinic a visit. Chris and Sophie diagnosed shin-splints and agreed they were caused by the tight calves. They explained the normal course of treatment, but realising that the marathon was a one-off for me, insisted that I run the marathon under the condition I follow their advice in the week-and-a-half leading up to the marathon. This involved lots of ice, stretching, kinesio tape, and hot baths. It worked. I ran the marathon despite being out of action of over a month, and to my surprise I came 56th in my category. All thanks to Sophie and Chris. I now recommend to all of my running buddies Pure Health Osteopath Clinic. As runners the last thing we want to do is stop running. What is different about the Pure Health Osteopath Clinic is that Chris and Sophie appreciate that running is a massive part of our lives and try to adjust their treatment plan accordingly. From now on I am going get a regular MOT at the Pure Health Osteopath Clinic.
